THE UNDERBELLY PROJECT

For as long as I have known about it, I've made it a priority to visit this abandoned subway station one day.

I've long been fascinated by the station's infamous past, an abandoned subway project originated from the second world war serving as a secret underground street art gallery/ installation in 2010, and how it features art from tons of renowned street artists across the globe. I remember being fourteen and seeing photos of the famous "We Own The Night" graffiti piece from Dark.cyanide ( you can see this piece in the back of the fourth photo) and feeling astonished at how a place like this could be real.

Fast forward to some time during the summer of 2021, I had a spontaneous chance of fulfilling my younger ambition; joining fellow explorer JMZ on his retirement trip from urbexing as he said goodbye to various different bandos and tunnels, this station being one of which.

Although by now countless explorers had already made their own visits here and there's already tons of photos from here on the internet, it was still nice seeing the gallery with my own eyes, and knowing that my younger self would have been so proud of this moment.

Welcome to the Underbelly Project.
