NEW YORK CITY FARM COLONY

Located on Staten Island, the New York City Farm Colony was a poor farm built in 1898 that housed hundreds of misfortunate individuals who earned a living and shelter at the location through taming to the farm land and hard laboring around the grounds. The site closed its doors in 1975 due to low number of inhabitants and high maintenance costs. Today The Farm Colony is frequently visited by local teens and paintball enthusiasts.
